My name is Yahya Bamhmed. I am born in 1989 and come from a family of nomads. I was born in the desert and lived a nomadic life with my family until I was 7. Then we moved to M’hamid El Ghizlane, a small village community on the edge of the endless desert so that I could attend school. Most of the inhabitants of M’Hamid are descendants of Nomads, therefore the nomadic tradition is vividly alive in the village.
I’m not in the desert on a daily basis, but I try to spend as much time there as possible. I’m working in tourism since 2004 and have extensive experience in organizing different kind of tours in the desert – from one day camel trips to multiple day trekking adventures. My aim is not only to preserve and present the natural and cultural heritage of south-west Morocco, but to follow the footsteps of my family, who the led huge caravans through the desert.
